Tanya’s EEOA Plan
Equitable Economic Opportunity for All (EEOA)
As City Councilor, I will champion my EEOA plan by working to enhance and propose policies that will help grow quality jobs, encourage entrepreneurship, and revive high-need communities to boost economic growth, which, in turn, has been shown to alleviate poverty. Policies that promote equity can boost social cohesion and reduce political conflict.
Components of my plan:
Identify large-scale development projects coming into the city and ensure they will provide sufficient training and employment opportunities for all residents.
Require that all large-scale development projects include Community Benefit.
Agreements for residents in distressed and high need communities.
Help entrepreneurs in low-income neighborhoods grow their businesses.
Support worker-cooperatives and other employee-owned businesses.
Utilize asset mapping tools to assess the location of opportunities and support services in the city and identify areas of high need.
Existing and new programs to help working families - emergency funds and support services.
Affordable residential development - for marginalized communities.
Advocate for policies that make it equitable and affordable for small businesses to establish themselves to help revitalize downtown Taunton.
Create paid internship programs for young people to work on development projects and gain real world working knowledge and skills.
